THE AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY INSTITUTE (AAFI) Announces an Exciting Family Entertainment Event and Family Readiness Workshop to Be Held in Tampa, Florida, Saturday, September 24th, 2022.
Offering families hope, resources, and tools to become more resilient. Family Strong!
Tampa, FL, August 4, 2022: The African American Family Institute (AAFI) today announced its partnership with Nate Jacobs, Founder and Artistic Director of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, Florida and 2015 recipient of the Larry Leon Hamlin Producer Award from the National Black Theatre Festival, to direct and produce a theatrical production at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida. The event will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, at 7:30 PM EST (One Show Only). The show is titled; “10 Boys and 1 Girl”, and conveys the extraordinary story of how Ennis Jacobs, Sr. and Vetta Jacobs raised 10 Boys and 1 Girl during the early-to-mid 1960’s.
This hilarious and entertaining production features Dr. Kennedy Jacobs and Lucinda Jacobs, son and daughter-in-law of Ennis Jacobs, Sr., along with other siblings and family members that help articulate this unforgettable journey of hope, courage, and resilience. Come discover the significance of family and why its impact extends across generations. You can expect soul stirring lyrics and inspirational music, featuring a live band and breath-taking vocals. This remarkable story was scripted by Michael Jacobs, Kennedy Jacobs, Nate Jacobs, and the Jacobs siblings for your encouragement and enjoyment. This innovative family and community engagement seminar provides a safe space for families to collaborate and explore potential solutions that will help enhance their capacity to solve challenges that they are facing daily. Attendees will participate in fun and engaging breakout sessions and informative panel discussions, with the goal of taking away practical solutions that can be implemented post-event to strengthen families (Family Strong!).
